Jaycox Architects & Associates provided complete architectural services for this new 6,500 square foot Ocean-front estate. This 2-story Bermuda style home includes large open spaces with expansive views from every room. The concept for the plan was derived from the Owner’s desire to have a place to entertain in all types of weather. The home features repeating traditional elements including arches, columns and coffered ceilings throughout. It is constructed using modern technology for resistance to high velocity winds and for ease of maintenance in the harsh salt environment.

This 5,660 square-foot Cape Cod Shingle style house is reminiscent of the Owner’s original home town. It features cedar shingles, brick veneer, perma-cast columns and pvc trim for a very low-maintenance exterior. The home has a traditional layout with a formal Dining Room and Study flanking a gracious Foyer. Exterior details such as paneled porch ceilings, widow’s walk, Dutch hip roofs and trellis above the garage door all add to the charm of this New England Cottage.

The Owner of this new 5,800 square foot Georgian Manor house wanted his home true-to- style while incorporating a modern, functional floor plan. We accomplished this by maintaining the integrity of the Georgian “salt box” with wings and the Grand Foyer complete with traditional stair and railing. A columned gallery space separates the Foyer from the formal Living Room. The Living Room offers spectacular views of the city across the St. Johns River and direct access to a large portico for outdoor entertaining. This home was also designed with low maintenance in mind. We received an award for the design of this house from the Brick Institute.

This home features a large central Great Room with vaulted ceilings and stone fireplace. The private Master Suite is on the first floor. The children’s bedrooms are all on the second floor along with an open study and play area. This home also has a detached three car garage with covered walk connector and second floor bonus room. The wide, sloping lot on the bank of the St. Johns River gave us the opportunity to design the house so that almost every room has a view of the river. Extensive use of glass, wide porch roofs and open floor planning further enhance the views of the river.

This home is sited on the highest point of Elbow Cay, a small Bahamian Island. It is designed to withstand hurricane force winds. As of this writing, the house has survived two high-strength hurricanes with minimal damage and numerous storms with no damage. Construction of the home became our greatest challenge. As a full service Architecture Firm, we took care of our client’s every need. We worked as the Owner’s Representative, Architect, Project Manager, and ultimately Contractor.

The entrance of this home features a dramatic Monterey-style heavy timber balcony. The Foyer leads to the Great Room with a stone fireplace as a focal point flanked by views of the expansive lawn and gardens beyond. The gracious living spaces are appointed with warm wood beams and floors and wrought iron lighting fixtures, all reminiscent of the Spanish Mediterranean style. The floor plan of this home was designed to accommodate the special needs of the Owner who has limited mobility. Other amenities include a screen-enclosed pool area with spa and a full outdoor kitchen complete with fireplace.

This new 4,600 square foot, one story, French Chateau-style residence was designed for a retired couple who lived in a larger two-story French style house. There are no level changes within the house that would cause mobility issues later in life. The U-shaped plan was developed to create a private courtyard visible from most rooms within the house. The courtyard design increased the number of exterior windows offering views of the nature preserve beyond the property limits. The home is built with high-end finishes inside and out that add to its feeling of sophistication and timelessness.

Our task was to preserve memorable elements of a 1940’s Georgian Style riverfront estate in a prominent historic area during a massive transformation. The new home, three times its original size, boasts handmade brick and cut limestone details and state-of-the-art technology. This new home includes a cinema-like home theatre, a complete light control system, a separate guest house building with movable glass walls, a summer kitchen with outdoor fireplace and a multi level pool area.
